Earlier this month, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced that the company had sold 174,266 vehicles during the month of September. While overall sales for the month were down compared to September 2016 results, FCA actually registered an increase in retail sales; the dip in sales is attributed to an ongoing strategy to reduce the number of vehicles sold to the daily rental market.

The Jeep Compass registered the vehicle's best-ever sales month, while the Jeep Renegade earned its best September sales results and the Jeep Wrangler gained 10 percent. Overall, Jeep retail sales were up 9 percent compared to last year.

Ram saw both the ProMaster and ProMaster City vans post best-September-ever sales numbers. For the year, Ram sales are up 5 percent compared to the same nine-month period from last year.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan, the most awarded minivan of 2016 and 2017, returned a sales increase of 18 percent for the month.

Dodge saw sales for the Durango balloon 45 percent in September, for the vehicle's best September results since 2005.
