Here at Red Bluff Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, more hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles are starting to enter our new vehicle lineup. This is great news for drivers around Red Bluff and Chico, as many want to experience options that are able to maximize efficiency. What most people may not know is the difference between a hybrid vehicle and a plug-in hybrid. We're here to explain those to you, and highlight our current hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles!

A hybrid is a vehicle that uses a gas engine that's paired with an electric motor that both work together to create a more efficient drive. The hybrid system is able to delegate not only engine power as efficiently as possible, but also heat and air conditioning and other vehicle systems are able to be run using the electric motor so the engine can gain greater fuel economy. The motor is recharged automatically through regenerative braking and the hybrid battery has a long warranty for drivers as well.

Plug-in hybrids, which are the vehicles you'll find available here from the Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep brands have the same type of system but adds on the benefit of the electric motor being able to provide you with a limited and rechargeable all-electric driving range. This is rechargeable via an at-home charger that comes with your vehicle and a standard 120-volt outlet overnight, or it can be charged up at public charging stations. Over time, the power will eventually replenish through regenerative braking as well.

Having that added bit of all-electric driving can help you save fuel as you're able to make short drives around Red Bluff and Chico in all-electric mode, whether it's going to the store, a quick commute from work to home, or areas close by.

You can find multiple plug-in hybrid options here at the dealership which include:

  • The Dodge Hornet, our new crossover option, which offers plug-in hybrid options on its R/T and R/T Plus trims to net you 288 horsepower along with an estimated 32-mile electric range and 360 miles of total driving range
  • The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid minivan comes in two models and also has a 32-mile EV range, while offering up to 520 miles of total range, and 82 miles per gallon of electric equivalent (MPGe)
  • The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid available in select Wrangler trim levels which is able to provide an estimated total driving range of 370 miles along with 49 MPGe, plus 21 miles of electric driving
  • The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is able to attain up to 56 MPGe, tow up to 6,000 pounds, and has a 25-mile electric range, plus 470 miles of combined driving range
